About Us

Steve Pepple photoSteve Pepple is a Detroit-based fine art photographer who specializes in street, landscape and wildlife photography. His long career as a journalist, including several years as a crime reporter, is reflected in his street photography, which documents everyday life by capturing special moments that range from gritty to the sublime. Though Steve has spent much of his career on the word side in journalism, first as a reporter and later as an editor, his true passion for the past 25 years has been photography.

For years, Steve ran a successful side business doing wedding, portrait and commercial photography, but his real love is being out on the streets looking for what famed French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson called "The Decisive Moment." Much of his work is centered around Detroit and Ann Arbor, but his travels have included Italy (2007) and Spain (2018) as part of his photography education. Steve is been a part-time photography instructor at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor.

Steve's photographs have appeared in magazines, newspapers, books, advertisements, and have been part of exhibits at two museums. His work has been displayed at exhibits at Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor, Washtenaw Community College, the Riverside Arts Center in Ypsilanti, the Grosse Pointe War Memorial, the Scarab Club in Detroit, the Northville Art House in Northville, Mich., and in a solo exhibit at the Plymouth Coffee Bean in Plymouth, Michigan. Several of his images aree part of a two-year exhibit at Farmington City Hall.
