What: A solo exhibiition featuring 20 images by Detroit fine art photographer Steve Pepple, who specializes in street, landscape and wildlife photography.

Where: Plymouth Coffee Bean Co., 844 Penniman Ave., Plymouth, MI 48170 (Exhibit is in the "Yellow Room" in back to the left).

When: July 1-Aug. 31, 2023. Open daily until 9 p.m.

Artist Statement

My long career as a journalist, including several years as a crime reporter, is reflected in my street photography, which documents everyday life by capturing special moments that range from gritty to the sublime. Though I have spent much of my career on the word side in journalism, first as a reporter and later as an editor, my true passion for the past 20 years has been photography. For years, I ran a successful side business doing wedding and portrait and occasional commercial photography, but my real love is being out on the streets looking for what famed French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson called "The Decisive Moment." Much of my work is centered around Detroit and Ann Arbor, but my travels have included Italy (2007) and Spain (2018) as part of my photography education. For the past several years, I have been a part-time photography instructor at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor. Photography Owner-operator of Steve Pepple Photography.
